Its After Christmas... well the family's all gone, the presents are all unwrapped, and the leftovers are all packed up in the fridge. There is still 2 weeks of break left... what to do? Well doing something productive is pointless.. I mean it is break. So what does humanity do when the after Christmas blues roll around? SHOP! They take whatever money they didn't spend on turkey and plane tickets and they spend it all on stuff they otherwise (if not for the lack of anything better to do) wouldn't have even looked at. After a whole week of seeing nothing but gifts and stuff.. people want nothing more than to buy MORE STUFF. It's a tedious cycle that will probably never end. So as the old saying goes "if you can't beat em... join em." That's exactly what I did.. only the smart way. The key to not going into debt before the new year... is to ASK FOR CASH!!! For christmas nobody wants to be stuck at a store looking for a specific gift you described on the phone.. only to find that it was the wrong one and gift receipts are exchanged and pointless trips are made that could have been completely avoided all together. The key to this is asking for MONEY. As much fun as it is to get a big shiny beautifully wrapped christmas present.. the most convenient way to get gifts... is gift cards and money.. for three reasons.
1. Envelopes with a few 20 dollar bills in them aren't a problem at the airport.. a 11x16 in. box filled with god knows what, is.
2. No gift receipt required.
3. With money as a gift.. you can use it all for your wonderful 2 week shopping extravaganza without going into bankruptcy.
So as you can see, the only way to shop before christmas is to buy gift cards. Everyone will be much happier in the end i promise you.
