Boy Friends? Is there Such A Thing?

In a world made for teenagers to roam about the streets and schools of America dumping their flirtatious vibes everywhere, there are few who believe in the urban myth that guys and girls can be "just friends". I was a firm believer in this myth and tried with all my might in the past year to prove it. I came so close. I had made the closest thing to a perfect guy friend there is. Sweet, funny, a good listener, and always there when I needed him. In return I was also there to lend an open ear or a funny joke to cheer him up. However I recently discovered that no matter what I thought in the past.. he didn't always think of me as "just a friend" he once had a crush on me as well... just like the others, even though he's over me now we'll always have that past... and you know what they say about history repeating itself. So here's the question: Can girls and guys be "just friends". I want to believe it... but I have never kept a guy friend longer than a year. I wonder though if there is such a thing... or if really teenagers use the whole friend thing to cover up their feelings of attraction so they can get to know them on a more intellectual level and once that's done and passed you can make your move. In those made-for- TV movies you see on the family channel weeknights at 8... you always see the best guy friend fall for the best girl friend. They get together at the end and live happily ever after. I'm starting to believe that I'm meant to live a best guy friend falls in love with the "girl-next-door" best friend... and we go through ups and downs in other relationships until we realize were meant for each other thing. I always dreamed I would live something a little more romantic.... I mean the girl-next-door thing suits me fine, but I never feel attracted to my "best guy friends"... I don't know why I just don't find most of them attractive, and I know it sounds shallow but I really need to be attracted to a guy before I like them.

So all in all, I now have decided that boy friends are only there so that they can eventually fall for you... now brother type figures in your life?.... that's another story.;)

until next time

Be My Escape

Sometimes the world gets stressful, and there's nothing you, your parents, or your dog can do about it. All you can do is deal with it in the best possible way. To escape stress most people decide to put things off.... this is mostly due to laziness, something America has become pretty adept at. But truly the best way to deal with the everyday stresses of life (e.g. homework, housework, schoolwork, and WORK in general), is to
1. Get it over with if you can... that way the stress is no longer there...... or
2. If it's one of those things that you have to wait for (e.g. the first day of school, registration, promotion day, Drivers test day, etc.) do something that calms you down.

Everyone has something that they enjoy and that they are good at and these are the very things you should be doing.... things you enjoy. Personally if I can get in the water or play the piano, or write then in a matter of minutes I can feel all the stress boiled up inside of me just melt away. My advice to you is to find something that makes you happy and clears your head. Once you find out what exactly that activity is you can partake in that activity take a deep breath and let all of your troubles and worries flow out. You'll feel much better about yourself and because of which you will most likely perform better.
